ETUDES 2 LMS Alliance

ETUDES is a course management system owned and operated by Foothill College. The inclusion of ETUDES into the Course Hosting and Licensing program comes at a time when rising costs of Course Management Systems and smaller budgets are causing some colleges to re-think their online programs and platforms of delivery. Due to this recent phenomenon of rising costs, a college consortium called ETUDES 2 LMS Alliance has been formed. ETUDES 2 is currently in development, and is slated for release by Fall 2004. Alliance membership provides:

• Unlimited use of ETUDES 1, and CVC hosting of courses for Alliance members as an interim solution
• Input towards the development of ETUDES 2
• Discounted licensing for ETUDES 2 upon it's release
• Free training
• The deadline for joining the alliance has been extended to January 31, 2003!

Details on ETUDES 1 Hosting/Licensing For Non-Alliance Colleges

As a pilot opportunity for non-alliance colleges, the CVCs will host courses on the current version of ETUDES (ETUDES 1) at no cost to colleges from January 2003 - May 31, 2004. The ETUDES/CVC agreement provides the following:

• Up to 10 live courses per semester, per college
• Hosting costs covered by CVC
• Development course shells for faculty
• Free training

ETUDES Training Opportunity

CVC4 in cooperation with the Foothill College ETUDES project, announces registration for an Online ETUDES training workshop scheduled from January 6-17, 2003. Faculty and trainers interested in using Etudes are encouraged to participate in this workshop. Click here for workshop description and registration.

The study was conducted by the four Instructional Technology Coordinators at Los Rios Community College District, Nov. 2002. "It is our view that the current version of Etudes is better than the current version of Blackboard and is at least the equivalent to the new version of Blackboard." Click here for the full report.
